TELUS International is looking for a Finance Manager in Japan!

You are highly motivated self-starter, dependable, and can manage multiple tasks simultaneously. You have a proven record of strong attention to detail. You have excellent communication and the ability to build relationships at all levels. Fluent in Japanese, Korean and English. You will provide Financial and payroll support to TELUS International Japan & Korea sites for finance function and provide support to site manager, management teams and local employees.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervising the maintenance of the general ledger and cost accounting activities.
  • Preparing cash flow charts on a periodic basis and giving “Warning” signals when required.
  • Recommending modifications in chart of accounts, cost systems and other practices to meet the changing needs of the company.
  • Supervising Payroll, Accounts receivable and payable, with special attention to aging reports.
  • Reviewing and recommending pricing policies and strategies to ensure that all underlying data is reasonable and that all relevant costs have been considered.
  • Manage payroll activities & Employee payroll support.

Month End Close:

  • Responsible for closing the books each month in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that all Balance Sheet Reconciliations are completed each month and that any reconciling items are resolved.
  • Assist and work with the Auditors during the annual audit and quarterly reviews.

Revenue Recognition:

  • Work with Site management to ensure Revenue is recognized each month in accordance with TIAI Accounting policies and IFRS.
  • Calculating any Revenue WIP to be accrued at Month End.
  • Complete monthly Revenue reconciliation to support PM Schedules and timesheets.
  • Ensure supporting documentation including contracts and PO’s are in place for revenue recognition.
  • Ensure Customer invoicing is completed on time.

Management Reporting & Analysis:

  • Provide details of Project and Customer profitability.
  • Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable:
  • Assist the Accounts receivable functions for Japan and Korea; determine status of collections and contact the customer’s Accounts payable staff where the site is having difficulty collecting.
  • Following up with Business Unit Managers, Site Manager, BDD and PMs on troublesome collections. 
  • Manage the AP process for Japan and Korea.
  • Tax Returns/Statutory Reporting
  • Complete Payroll, income tax and Statutory filings, as required, with assistance from 3rd party firms as appropriate. Analysis for Corporation tax return as required.

Intercompany:

  • Manage the Intercompany transaction process for Japan and Korea.
  • Complete monthly reconciliations with other TI entities at Month End.

Other

  • Manage payroll process and any queries that may arise from local employees.
  • Assist with various projects as required.
  • Work with and assist the Auditors with the annual audit and the production of statutory accounts for both entities.
  • Continuously drive process improvement within the finance function. 
  • Perform controls in accordance with SOX framework.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local tax payments


SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Fluent in Japanese, Korean and English.
  • Good knowledge of financial systems particularly workday.
  • Previous experience and exposure to IFRS with Japanese & Korean accounting procedure under a Multinational environment.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Microsoft or G-suite tools is essential.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication.
  • Required to work independently and as part of a team.
  • University diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in finance.
  • Familiarity with the Japanese & Korean local rules.
